Begin with a standard 30, 40, 50, 80, or 120 gallon hot water heater.  This is not included with Solar Hero heat exchanger kit.  You must purchase the Solar Hero system to get this.

2

Make a simple screw-on connection at the top of the tank.  This part in included in the Solar Hero heat exchanger kit.

3

Make another simple screw-on connection at the bottom of the tank.  This part is also included in the Solar Hero heat exchanger kit.

4

Attach the Solar Hero heat exchanger at the top. No soldering is required!  Note the built-in drain valve and pressure gauge, all standard and preassembled with the Solar Hero heat exchanger kit.

The heat exchanger shown has a Solar Hero expansion cap which is not include in the standard kit.  You can supply your own standard expansion tank for closed systems or you can have it added to the package you order.

Mount the pump and the check valve on the return line to the collector.  Check valve is included.  Pump is not included but can be added during ordering process if you need one.

7

Connect the hose to the pressure relief valve on the expansion system. This step is required only if you have chosen to add Solar Hero expansion cap and tank, otherwise you will plumb in your own expansion tank.

8

Place one end of the hose in the propylene glycol antifreeze container. (food grade/non toxic) This step is required only if you order the Solar Hero expansion system, otherwise you will plumb in your own expansion tank.

9

Install the differential controller at the top of the tank and connect tank temperature leads and run collector leads.  The controller is not included unless purchased as an ad on to the Solar Hero heat exchanger kit.

10

Connect the solar collector supply and return lines to the Solar Hero Heat exchanger.  Some soldering required if connecting to your original system.

11

Add insulation and charge the system with fluid and you are ready to collect energy from the sun.
